Berima Amo was nominated for “Best Music Producer” at the AGMMA Awards held annually in London. As part of Bijlmer Amsterdam's 40th anniversary celebrations, he was selected for a photo exhibition as one of the most influential musicians in Amsterdam. Berima Amo is big on collaborating with musicians from different cultures.
Berima Amo and his music foundation BETTER MUSIC AFRICA (BMA) started a movement in Ghana called "HIGHLIFE RESTORATION PROJECT" where he's working together with the government and media houses to introduce authentic Ghanaian music to young people through radio & tv interviews, workshops, masterclasses, performances. BMA is all about creating platforms for creative people in Africa. After 3 years of establishing in Ghana, Berima Amo has worked with the Music Department of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science & Technology in Kumasi, Royal Netherlands Embassy in Accra, and other stakeholders in the Ghanaian music industry. Berima Amo formed the first big band group since the last one closed down over 30 years ago in Accra. He went on a 2 months media tour in Ghana after 2021 summer educating Ghanaians on the need to revive authentic African music & incorporate traditional instruments in modern music.
He has been featured in the NCR national Dutch newspapers on his cultural work and music. He worked for the past 2 years with musicians from the Royal ConcertGebouw Orkest, even writing a special song which was sponsored by the Fonds Podiumkunsten. His piece titled "SON OF LOVE' was premiered at the "Homage to Zuidoost Gospel" at Bijlmer Parktheater on 26 November 2021 and Muziekgebouw aan 't IJ on 27 November 2021 with ZO Gospel Choir & Shirma Rouse, to a standing ovation. Both concerts where soldout.
Berima Amo is endorsed by the Austrian brass maker Schagerl Music GmbH. He plays a custom-made Schagerl Spyder Trumpet exclusively. He's excited to tour in 2022 summer with his Nkabom Afroband. Bringing true authentic African music to festivals and halls across Europe. 3 of his band members have been featured individually on CNN African Voices documentaries for their excellence and impact. Nkabom AfroBand is a combination of musicians from Ghana and Holland. According to Berima Amo, this band is the perfect cocktail.
